Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the perceptions of adolescents and young people regarding the use of psychoactive substances in Kisangani.

METHODS. We conducted a cross-sectional study from July 1 to October 1, 2023. The study population consisted of adolescents and young people in the city of Kisangani. Using cluster sampling, a cluster effect of 2 was applied to calculate the sample size using the SCHWARTZ formula, resulting in 806 adolescents and young people being selected and interviewed using a questionnaire deployed on Kobocollect. Categorical variables were presented as percentages, and skewed quantitative variables were expressed as medians with interquartile ranges.
